During the week while Mark was working, Gordon and Gayle also ventured out on their own and enjoyed many of the activities Singapore has to offer like riding on the Singapore Flyer, walking through Fort Canning Park, having a famous Singapore Sling, and checking out Sentosa – Gordon even did the indoor skydiving there! Videos below show view from Flyer and Gordon doing indoor skydiving.
On their last day here we took a cruise on a bumboat down the Singapore River. The cruise started in Clarke Quay passing all the restaurants and clubs/bars then went into Boat Quay which was once the primary trading post but is now a seafood hotspot. The cruise narrator mentions the significance of building the modern day skyscrapers amid 2-3 story restored shop houses was to look to the future while honoring the past. After passing Boat Quay we boated through Marina Bay where we got our best view yet of the floating soccer field and the Merlion.

Sculpture of 5 boys jumping into river pays respect to the past as this was at one time a very common sight |

Following the river cruise we had a farewell lunch. While we covered a lot of ground (and water…and sky) during their visit we still look forward to their next time because we’ve got a lot more to see!
